How privacy worksHow it works
Paste one item per line into lists A and B, or select UTF-8 files. Choose whitespace, case and blank-line handling. Compare, review common and unique items, then download the result lists.
Supported formats
Two UTF-8 text inputs up to 1 MB and 100,000 lines each. Three plain-text downloads and a combined CSV; previews show the first 1,000 items per result. Optional CSV formula protection adds an apostrophe to sensitive values.
Good to know
Set comparison removes repeated items and keeps the first spelling and order. A final newline terminates an item. Case folding uses Unicode lowercase, not locale-specific collation. No fuzzy or substring matching.
Worked example
Before
A: Ada, Sam, Ada, Lee (one per line). B: Sam, Robin, Lee.
After
Common: Sam, Lee. Only A: Ada. Only B: Robin. One repeat excluded in A.
Common items follow list A order. An item repeated twice is represented once in each result.
Choose what makes two items equal
Enable trim to treat surrounding whitespace as formatting. Ignore case for identifiers whose capitalization has no meaning. Leave it off when codes or names are case-sensitive. Blank lines can be retained as an empty item by disabling skip blank lines.
CSV comparisonTroubleshooting
Why does a repeated item appear only once in the comparison?
This compares distinct items, rather than counting occurrences. Repeated items are excluded and reported separately. Keep the original input if frequency matters.
Common questions
Can I compare comma-separated lists?
Use one item per line. Commas inside a line remain part of that item. Use CSV comparison when your data has multiple columns and quoted fields.
Can I use this without an internet connection?
Yes, after you prepare this tool from Offline help and the browser retains its assets. Installation is optional. All processing dependencies are bundled locally.
