PDF password protection
Add an AES-256 opening password to a PDF entirely on your device.
Processed on your device. Your files are never uploaded by Justility.
How privacy worksHow it works
Select an unencrypted PDF, enter and confirm an opening password, then generate and download the protected PDF.
Supported formats
PDF input up to 10 MB / 200 pages. AES-256 encrypted PDF output; no password removal.
Good to know
Use at least eight characters and at most 127 UTF-8 bytes. Keep the password separately. Rewriting invalidates digital signatures; no password recovery or viewer-enforced printing restrictions are offered.
Worked example
Before
An unencrypted two-page contract and a confirmed opening password
After
A two-page PDF that requires the supplied password to open
Page content is rewritten without rasterizing images or text; the output encryption and page count are verified.
Keep access details separate from the document
Files and passwords exist only during this browser workflow. Download the output, save the password separately and use Reset to clear the workspace. Check the protected document in your intended viewer.
