New canvas & image import

Pixel artwork imports replace the project after review. Freehand image imports add a frame, fitted proportionally. Sprite sheets are read left to right, then top to bottom.

32 × 32 · frame 1 · B pencil, E eraser, G fill, S select, V move, H pan. Focus the canvas: arrow keys move the cursor; Shift moves 10 px; Space paints. Shapes and selection use two Space presses for endpoints.

Keyboard cursor: 0, 0

Hold 1 = one tick at the selected FPS. Onion skin shows adjacent frames.

Take it with you

PNG preserves transparency. GIF reduces colors and uses a 50% alpha cutoff. WebM uses the preview background, original dimensions and real-time recording; keep this tab visible. Exports do not save an editable project.

Project files & local recovery

Project files preserve editable work. Image, video and audio exports are final copies. Recovery stays on this device and may be evicted by your browser; keep a downloaded backup.

Local autosave is off. Live recordings are saved only after Stop.

Up to 120 frames, 60 seconds and 128 MiB of artwork. Undo keeps up to 32 MiB / 100 recent edits. Drawings stay in this tab unless you download a project or enable local recovery.

How privacy works

How it works

Create a small canvas or import a PNG sprite sheet. Draw on unlocked layers, manage the palette and build frames with onion skin. Preview timing, export the final artwork and download an editable project to retain layers and frames.

Supported formats

Pixel canvases up to 256×256, eight layers, 120 frames and 60 seconds; 128 MiB artwork. PNG artwork/sprite-sheet input up to 20 MB. PNG, frame ZIP, sprite sheet plus JSON, animated GIF, supported silent WebM and .justility-project files.

Good to know

Normal layer blending and rectangular selections only. No Aseprite files, indexed-color editing, tilemaps or tweening. GIF reduces colors and uses binary transparency. WebM uses a solid background and real-time browser capture. Large exports are bounded separately.

Worked example

Before

Two 32×32 frames: open eyes and a blink, each held for six ticks at 12 FPS

After

A looping one-second sprite, with PNG, GIF or sprite-sheet output

Each six-tick hold lasts half a second. Pixel PNG scaling uses nearest-neighbor rendering; the grid and onion skin are never exported.

Keep a project as well as an export

The editable project contains every frame, layer, palette and hold. PNG/GIF are flattened copies and do not preserve those editing controls. Local recovery is optional and off for new projects. Browser storage can be evicted; a downloaded project is the portable backup.

Troubleshooting

Why does the pencil leave no mark on this layer?

Select a visible, unlocked layer. Check its opacity and the selected frame. Use Pan to move the viewport; it does not paint. Keyboard canvas controls use arrows and Space.

Common questions

Can I open .aseprite or .ase files?

No. This is an original browser editor with a smaller feature set. Import PNG artwork or slice a PNG sprite sheet using exact cell dimensions.

Can I use this without an internet connection?

Yes, after you prepare this tool from Offline help and the browser retains its assets. Installation is optional. All processing dependencies are bundled locally.
