How privacy works

How it works

Enter each completed assessment’s earned marks, maximum marks and weight in the final course. Set an overall target and calculate the average needed on the unlisted remaining weight.

Supported formats

Up to 50 weighted assessments; numeric marks and percentages; editable JSON backups.

Good to know

Weights cannot exceed 100%. No extra credit, curves, dropped assessments, negative marks or minimum exam requirements are modeled. Required percentages round upward to two decimal places; your school’s scoring increments may require more.

Worked example

Before

Coursework: 70/100, weight 40%; overall target 80%

After

Earned contribution 28 points; 86.67% needed on the remaining 60%

The required average is (80 − 28) / 60 × 100, rounded upward rather than down.

Keep weights separate from raw marks

An assessment marked out of 20 may still have a 40% course weight. Enter both values explicitly. Unlisted weight is treated as remaining work scored from 0 to 100%. Review your course rules before relying on a target.

Troubleshooting

Why does the calculator say my target cannot be reached?

Your completed contribution plus perfect marks on all remaining work is below the target, or no remaining weight exists. Check assessment weights and any course-specific rules.

Common questions

Is the required percentage an exact exam mark?

It is an average across all remaining weight. Convert it to the exam’s maximum marks and round upward to an attainable score under your institution’s rules.
