Number-list statistics
Calculate sum, mean, median, quartiles and population or sample standard deviation from a list of numbers.

How privacy worksHow it works
Paste numbers or select a UTF-8 text file. Separate values with whitespace, commas or semicolons, calculate, then inspect the summary and download the numerical results as JSON.
Supported formats
Up to 1 MB of UTF-8 text and 100,000 finite decimal numbers. Decimal points and scientific notation are accepted. JSON output.
Good to know
Commas delimit values, so 1,000 means 1 and 0, not one thousand. No currency symbols, missing-value markers or locale decimal commas. JavaScript floating-point precision applies; excessive numeric ranges are rejected.
Worked example
Before
2, 4, 4, 4, 5, 5, 7, 9
After
Count 8; sum 40; mean 5; median 4.5; population variance 4; population standard deviation 2.
The sample variance instead divides by seven and is approximately 4.5714285714. Choose the measure that fits whether these values are a population or a sample.
Read the variance convention
Population variance divides squared deviations by n; sample variance divides by n − 1 and requires at least two values. Quartiles use linear interpolation at index (n − 1) × p on sorted values. Other software may use a different quartile convention.

Why are sample variance and sample standard deviation undefined for one value?
Their denominator is n − 1, which is zero for a single value. Population variance and standard deviation are zero in that case. Add another observation to calculate sample measures.
Common questions
Does the tool ignore invalid numeric entries?
No. It reports the first invalid entry so a missing or mistyped value cannot silently change the statistics. Correct the input and calculate again.
Can I use this without an internet connection?
Yes, after you prepare this tool from Offline help and the browser retains its assets. Installation is optional. All processing dependencies are bundled locally.
