How privacy works

How it works

Paste one student per line, set rows and columns, reserve desk numbers and select list order, alphabetical order or a seeded shuffle. Arrange seats, swap desk selections manually and create a chart with a full roster.

Supported formats

Up to 120 students and 120 desks, 1–12 rows and 1–10 columns; landscape A4 PDF chart and roster; JSON backups.

Good to know

No inference about accessibility needs, behavior or suitable student groupings. Reserved desks remain empty. Long names may shorten on the grid but remain complete in the accompanying roster. Teacher review is required.

Desk numbers run left to right, front to back. Duplicate student names remain distinct through their list numbers.

Check the arrangement against the actual classroom

The front/board marker fixes the chart orientation. Selecting a student already at another desk swaps the two placements. Changing the room or student list clears the old plan so stale assignments cannot be exported.

Troubleshooting

Why can I not export after changing the classroom dimensions?

Changing layout settings clears the previous seat plan. Select Arrange seats again and review the placement before creating the PDF.

Common questions

Does the shuffle guarantee students sit apart from particular classmates?

No. It shuffles the list with a reproducible seed. Reserve desks and use manual swaps for requirements you have reviewed yourself.

Can I use this without an internet connection?

Yes, after you prepare this tool from Offline help and the browser retains its assets. Installation is optional. All processing dependencies are bundled locally.
